Hubs and I are so excited to finally have our kitchen tile done. It was essentially our first "renovation" in the new house.
It's unbelievable how many types of tile there are, and all of the aspects you must take into account when choosing! (Besides price, because some can get super expensive!) Personally, I love travertine tile. However, it's not the most durable - so it wouldn't have been the best idea for a high-traffic area like the kitchen/hallway. We contemplated ceramic, but it also cracks, so we decided to go with porcelain.
We looked at a few local tile distributors, but believe it or not, Lowe's had the cheapest prices for porcelain tile! The one we chose is called Ivetta White. My favorite aspect is its natural look, which you don't find often in the less expensive tiles.
Without further ado, here are the before and afters!
OMG! What a difference!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!! =D
That's a HUGE difference! Looks good!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look! So high end! We are currently tiling our kitchen and dining room, too. In fact, we just finished tiling tonight. Friday, we grout. Fun fun. :)

ReplyDeleteHappy SITS day! That tile came out great. I am so impressed you guys did it yourselves. I think the linolium in your before was very similar to the stuff in my childhood home. Major upgrade!
ReplyDeleteJust bought this same tile at Lowes and thought I should probably try to find some 'before and afters' before I installed it. Your new floors look great! Ok; now I can start my tile adventure...

This looks fabulous. We are considering Ivetta White in our new master bath shower and around the tub. Would you say that the overall color of this is more grey, cream, beige? I have about 5 pieces of the tile and can't believe how much variation there is. I like most of the pieces but some of them have lots of gold flecks that I don't care too much for. Did you feel that you had to be choosy about how you laid them, or was it totally random? We are hiring the job, so I don't know how careful the guys will be about selecting pieces that go well together! If you have any tips or thoughts, please share!
ReplyDeleteAlso - do you recall what color of grout you used? Thanks!
Love this tile too. How has it been to keep clean, easy? Would you still go with the light grout? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI used this Ivetta White tile in our kitchen floor and found this tile is good for bathroom walls and back splashes but not for high traffic floors. It lacks gloss and easily gets scuff marks. For me it has been herd to clean. I would not recommend this Ivetta White for floors.
